The ARL member chooses Ex Libris cloud solutions to power the four libraries in the UC Davis library system
Chicago, IL—January 6, 2016. Ex Libris® a ProQuest company®, is pleased to announce that University of California, Davis (UC Davis) has acquired the Ex Libris Alma® resource management solution and the Primo® discovery solution.
Having run the Aleph® integrated library system for over ten years, UC Davis was keen to upgrade to a next-generation resource management solution that could streamline operations and enable improved connections to its many resources. As one of the top ten public research universities in the United States and a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the UC Davis Library sought a solution that would serve students, graduates, and faculty with sophisticated research needs.
Dale Snapp, Head of Systems at UC Davis Libraries, commented: ”As an early proponent of BIBFRAME to increase the utility of our catalog data for users, we look forward to leveraging Alma to advance Linked Data bibliographic workflows, and to deliver traditional and digital resources in novel fashion within the academic information landscape.”
”I am proud to welcome our longtime partners at UC Davis to the rapidly expanding Primo and Alma communities in North America and worldwide,” Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked. ”We are especially excited to explore linked data workflows together, a significant area of work for UC Davis. It is gratifying to see so many ARL members adopting Alma to drive their complex library operations. UC Davis has successfully used Aleph for over a decade and we are excited to begin implementing Alma at the Libraries during 2016.”
