The next-generation solutions will support the University Libraries in meeting strategic and educational goals
Chicago, IL—January 26, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Creighton University has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and the Primo® discovery and delivery solution to provide unified resource management and discovery. This integrated cloud-based platform will replace several systems, including SirsiDynix Symphony and ProQuest Summon.
To support their shift to an ”Academic Commons” approach to research and learning, Creighton University sought a major change to their technology framework, which would support their growing emphasis on electronic resources rather than physical collections. Creighton was also keen to enable easier collaboration between the University’s Reinert-Alumni, Health Sciences and Law libraries.
”The combination of Alma and Primo opens many new doors for Creighton’s libraries,” commented Becky Wymer, senior systems librarian at Creighton. ”After evaluating all the commercial systems, we found that Alma and Primo meet our needs for streamlined and collaborative workflows, a single discovery pathway for all of our collections and resources, improved access to library services, and insightful analytics into our collections and operations. Alma will enable us to provide an outstanding search experience for faculty, students, and researchers, while consolidating multiple systems to improve our staff members’ working environment. We are very pleased with the standard of service we have received from the regional Ex Libris team and we are confident that the ongoing customer support experience will be highly professional.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, said, ”As our first Alma institution in Nebraska, Creighton University is very warmly welcomed to the Ex Libris community. We are witnessing a growing trend of academic libraries of all sizes coming to the conclusion that a single platform for library management and discovery, in particular one provided on a SaaS basis, answers their mission to support the educational and strategic goals of their institutions.”
