The Colorado-based University becomes the eleventh member of the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) to adopt Ex Libris next-generation solutions
Chicago, IL— October 19, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation and preservation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Denver (DU) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. With its multiple libraries and extensive collections, the university was keen to establish a shared catalog powered by a unified management system. The University of Denver will be migrating from various systems including Innovative Interfaces Sierra, and ProQuest 360 Link and Summon.
By adopting Alma and Primo, DU will run a unified, cloud-based management system—eliminating silos and managing both print and electronic resources in one system. The university looks forward to saving staff time through automated workflows as well as offering a single discovery system for both students and faculty. The sophisticated Primo search and ranking technology, intuitive browsing options, and support for serendipitous discovery will enable users to easily find and seamlessly access the resources they need. The open architecture of Alma and Primo will also allow for easily facilitated and seamless integration with other institutional systems, such as the Banner ERP system.
“Our existing ILS no longer serves our need to effectively manage complex workflows in a digital environment,” commented Michael Levine-Clark, Interim Dean and Director of the University of Denver Libraries. ”With Alma and Primo, we will be able to improve our processes, enhance efficiency, and crucially, provide our users with a seamless discovery experience.”
”We are honored to welcome another member of the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) to our cloud solutions community,” remarked Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. ”DU’s choice reflects the built-in strength of Alma and Primo to support libraries in their mission to fulfill the wider academic goals of institutions.”
