The Ex Libris solutions serve as an integrated platform for library and archive management, digital preservation, and user discovery
Adelaide, Australia—July 27, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the State Library of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma® library management service, Primo® discovery and delivery, and Rosetta digital asset management and preservation. With these three solutions, the library now offers its large user community a world-class discovery experience.
Through the integration of Alma, Primo, and Rosetta with the State Library’s Axiell Adlib software, the library is able, for the first time, to consolidate all of its published content and original, digitized, and online materials, thus bringing to fruition a key element of the library’s Digital Excellence Program.
Any user can now search across the State Library’s rich collections of books, journals, and primary materials, including ephemera, large photographic and art collections, historic objects, maps, and manuscripts, within a single interface. The experience will be further enriched as more materials are migrated to the new platform, such as the recently digitized oral history collection.
NSW State Librarian and Chief Executive Alex Byrne commented: ”This state-of-the-art system will allow the public to discover the richness of the State Library collection, the most magnificent in Australia and its region. Our readers and researchers worldwide can now delve into the extraordinary collection in unprecedented detail. We are confident that this implementation not only demonstrates our digital excellence but also offers a path for other great cultural institutions.”
”We are proud and delighted that Alma, Primo, and Rosetta are part of the NSW State Library’s initiative to bring its outstanding collections to the global public,” remarked Matti Shem Tov, president of Ex Libris. ”By implementing these three solutions as an integrated platform, the library has adopted a pioneering technological approach that will accommodate the changing needs of staff and users. With Rosetta’s comprehensive management and preservation capabilities, the availability of the library’s digital and digitized collections will continue on into the future. Unifying the library’s operations across collections, Alma and Primo will enhance the discovery experience for users and enable them to enjoy the full wealth of the State’s cultural heritage resources.”
