Institutions using the Esploro solution will benefit from greater insight into the influence and reach of academic research
Jerusalem, Israel and London, UK—September 5, 2019. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, and Altmetric are pleased to announce the integration of Altmetric badges with the Esploro research services solution.
The Altmetric badges, which offer an at-a-glance summary of online engagement with each publication, will be added to research publication pages in Esploro, providing users with additional insight into the attention that each piece of research receives immediately following its publication.
The badges are a valuable addition to the measurement of research dissemination and influence available through the Esploro research services solution.
Scholarly institutions today aim to understand the impact that their research has on society. The integration of Altmetric badges will help us provide customers with a broader view of this wider engagement, beyond traditional citation metrics.
Esploro enables universities to capture, manage, and expose their faculty’s output and data through a single platform, leveraging library expertise and technology. The solution provides users with intelligent data capture, automated population of metadata, and an easy way to showcase researcher profiles. The integration of Altmetric badges in Esploro will help researchers, institutions, and the public assess the broader engagement surrounding scholarly work directly within the institution’s researcher portal pages.
Commenting on the integration, Nadav Doron, vice president of Research Solutions at Ex Libris, said, “Scholarly institutions today aim to understand the impact that their research has on society. The integration of Altmetric badges will help us provide customers with a broader view of this wider engagement, beyond traditional citation metrics.”
Altmetric’s CEO, Kathy Christian, explained, “Esploro users will be able to click on the Altmetric badges to see a complete record of the mentions for all research hosted on the platform. These mentions provide an immediate indication of how the research is being received across news, policy outlets, blogs, and many other valuable scholarly and non-scholarly sources.”
