The Ex Libris™ Group and Vivisimo Inc. today announce that they have signed an OEM agreement for bundling Vivisimos Velocity Clustering Engine with version 4 of MetaLib®–the Ex Libris library portal. On-the-fly subject clustering will provide users with a powerful way to explore the results, returned to MetaLib from various search targets, such as catalogs, reference databases, digital repositories, and subject-based Web gateways.
Vivisimo is excited by the opportunity to include Velocitys Clustering Engine as a key component of Ex Libris MetaLib product, said Raul Valdes-Perez, CEO, Vivisimo Inc. Vivisimos clustering capabilities will create a differentiated search experience for MetaLib users giving them the power and control to quickly eliminate irrelevant information and uncover relationships that would otherwise be missed through traditional search.
“The user experience in the next MetaLib version will be much enhanced by the addition of clustering technology, states Matti Shem Tov, President and CEO of Ex Libris. Our agreement with Vivisimo includes upgrading all existing customers to this version of the product. Additional highlights that will be featured in MetaLib version 4, to be released in December 2006, are full compliance with accessibility guidelines, enhanced interoperability capabilities, and further expansion of the MetaLib knowledge base.
