This major Rosetta version includes new functionality for collection and data management as well as enhancements to the user experience
Jerusalem, Israel—July 21, 2014. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce the release of version 4.0 of the Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution. This major new release streamlines the management of preservation roles and enhances the communication between Rosetta and discovery systems, enabling users to easily discover collections that are preserved in Rosetta.
Version 4 of Rosetta incorporates over 100 enhancements, many of which were requested by Rosetta users. Highlights of the new version include the following:
- Better user experience: Rosetta version 4 includes new interfaces for the Deposit and Technical Analysis modules, together with multiple user experience enhancements throughout the system. The Deposit module includes a new drag-and-drop mechanism that enables users to upload complete folders and subfolders.
- Enhanced data management: Functionality for routine bit-health and data integrity checks has been added to the Technical Analysis module. Rosetta users now enjoy more flexibility in updating Archival Information Packages (AIPs). In addition, new out-of-the-box business intelligence reports, including usage statistics, were added to Rosetta.
- Improved system scalability, performance and robustness: Rosetta 4 provides improved processing configuration for Submission Information Packages (SIPs), thereby enabling institutions to distribute tasks to dedicated servers and monitor servers’ throughput more efficiently. In addition, to enable end-users to enjoy maximum system availability, Rosetta 4 fully separates the delivery and processing components. Performance-related enhancements in version 4 include more efficient memory use and new system monitoring capabilities.
- Extended end-to-end support for collection management: The upload functionality for comma-separated values (CSV) files has been enhanced, allowing staff members to generate collections from the deposited content. Using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), Rosetta 4 enables data-harvesting systems such as the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to easily discover and provide users with access to Rosetta collections. The solution’s collection management, editing, search and viewing functionalities have also been enhanced.
