FHSU moves to the Ex Libris cloud to offer next-generation library services to staff and users Jerusalem, Israel—September 10, 2012. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the library of Fort Hays State University (FHSU) has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma library management service. FHSU has run Ex Libris solutions for many years, including the Voyager® integrated library system, Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and bX Recommender. The library has now completed its transition to next-generation services by replacing the multiple systems previously used for managing its print, electronic, and digital collections with just two solutions: Primo, which provides a single discovery platform, and Alma, which offers unified resource management. All of FHSU’s Ex Libris solutions are now running in the Ex Libris cloud environment. This software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployment reduces librarians’ technical burden and frees them up to concentrate on supporting users’ research and learning activities. ”Our new library system is unlike any other,” commented Director John Ross of FHSU’s Forsyth Library. ”The Ex Libris team worked with us very successfully on the migration from Voyager, which proceeded extremely smoothly. Above all, we feel that the Ex Libris vision aligns with the strategic direction of the university and the library: pursuing academic excellence by harnessing a unified resource-management and delivery framework that supports all our scholarly goals.” Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: ”Going live with Alma is an important landmark for Fort Hays and one that the Ex Libris community in North America is watching with great interest. As a major pillar of the FHSU library’s long-term strategy, Alma will enable the library to clearly demonstrate its value throughout the campus community.” About Alma About Fort Hays State University For more information, see https://www.fhsu.edu. Alma’s cloud infrastructure helps libraries increase their efficiency through data sharing and collaboration. As a result, libraries can focus their resources on extending services within and outside their institution, while supporting the institution’s teaching and research missions.
