Four Institutions Join the Alma Early-Adopter Program in Italy

These leading institutions will become the first in Italy to migrate to next-generation library management services from Ex Libris

Sasso Marconi (BO), March 5, 2014 – Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of the Italian early-adopter program for the Alma library management service. Designed as a regional early-adopter program, the program will facilitate collaboration between Ex Libris and the program members during their adoption of the company’s next-generation library services. Today Ex Libris reveals the four institutions that it will collaborate with to pave the way for Alma in Italy, creating the first installations of this next generation solution.

The four institutions that have joined the program are:
University of Rome Tor Vergata
Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa
University of Udine
University of Camerino

Ms Maria Teresa De Gregori, project coordinator at The University of Rome Tor Vergata said: ”Tor Vergata has chosen Alma for the management of information resources and the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution. Together, these solutions will allow us to reorganize our internal processes and services and, thanks to being cloud-based solutions, to free up staff to focus on other critical areas.”

Clementina Fraticelli, head of Library Systems at the University of Camerino, said “The University welcomes the move to join the Italian Alma Early Adopters program. We are sure that we have made a decision that aligns with the strategic objectives of our university, which considers technological innovation to be a key instrument of change.”

These institutions—the first to use Alma with UNIMARC—join a rapidly growing Alma community, which now numbers over 330 institutions.”
