Jerusalem, Israel—April 29, 2010. Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that following an agreement with Gale®, a number of Gale’s leading academic databases can now be accessed directly via the Primo Central mega-aggregate of scholarly e-content. The flagship full-text periodical databases Academic OneFile and General OneFile, together with the Eighteenth Century Collections Online and Sabin Americana resources, are now available via Primo Central. Gale is the latest of the rapidly expanding group of aggregators who have chosen to make their content accessible to library users via Primo Central—a centralized index comprising data harvested from primary and secondary publishers and aggregators. Gale has provided metadata for the e-journals in these important databases for central indexing by Primo Central. With Primo Central, users simultaneously search locally managed collections and global e-content and receive search results that are blended into a single relevance-ranked list. Primo Central is now undergoing beta testing by 14 Primo Central partner libraries around the world and will be available later this year to over 270 customers of the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and more than 1500 MetaLib® customers. ”We are delighted to work together with Ex Libris to enable our award-winning content to reach the extensive community of researchers, students, and consumers using Primo Central,” commented John Barnes, Gale executive vice president of strategic marketing and business development. ”The partnership with Primo Central will help us accomplish our objective of connecting researchers to the rich content held by their library.” ”We are thrilled to launch this collaboration with Gale—enabling our customer community to access a wealth of scholarly resources,” remarked Nancy Dushkin, corporate vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris. ”The huge diversity of content contained in the multidisciplinary and authoritative OneFile databases, together with the depth provided by Eighteenth Century Collections Online and the rich content of Sabin Americana, will be immensely valuable to Primo Central users around the world. We are delighted to include Gale in the rapidly growing number of leading content providers who are partnering with Ex Libris to provide integrated access to their content.” About Gale About Ex Libris Dedicated to developing creative solutions in close collaboration with our customers, Ex Libris enables academic, national, and research libraries to maximize productivity and efficiency and, at the same time, greatly enhance the user experience.
