About Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST):
Established in 1971, to train human resources in the fields of science and technology and serve as a role model research university, KAIST is composed of 13 departments, 7 divisions, and 10 interdisciplinary colleges. 10% of Korean science and technology professors are KAIST graduates. 2,200 graduates are currently doing research in governmental and non-governmental institutes. KAIST graduates are leaders in the fields of science and technology in research institutions, business, and the academic world.
The KAIST library, composed of a science library and an undergraduate branch library, covers 17,160 square meters of floor space, housing a total collection of 230,000 monographs and 9,000 journal titles, most of which are in English. The institutions Library Automation System (LAS) was developed in 1986 for cataloging. The complete OPAC began providing services to KAIST users in 1988. The KAIST Library operates a Web-based OPAC system for users convenience and e-resource services.
