After going live at Lancaster University Library, Alma is bringing new efficiencies and opportunities to library staff
London, UK—February 18, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Lancaster University in the United Kingdom is live in production with the Ex Libris Alma library management solution. Having launched the Primo® discovery and delivery solution to users in 2010, Alma now consolidates all the library’s back-office operations in a single, cloud-based solution that supports many aspects of the library’s modernization strategy.
”After intense preparation, we are very pleased to be live with Alma,” commented Clare Powne, University Librarian at Lancaster University. ”Our Implementation Group developed strong working relationships with the Ex Libris staff who have guided the project from London and Hamburg. We appreciate their responsiveness and attention to detail in bringing a complex project to this milestone on a tight timetable.
”As we hoped and anticipated, we are being challenged to re-consider numerous working practices and workflows,” continued Ms Powne. ”In the coming weeks and months, we expect to make significant strides in integrating previously separate streams of work to enable us to operate more efficiently and effectively. We are especially looking forward to developing an evidence-base for decision making by exploiting the Alma Analytics module, and we are excited about the options for further integrations that will help us enhance our service to library users.”
Christoph Frech, regional sales director for Ex Libris Europe, remarked: ”Over 120 institutions worldwide have chosen Alma and trust Ex Libris to be the right partner for the future. The numerous live implementations of Alma in Europe and the US prove that Ex Libris delivers according to plan, and we are gratified to see Lancaster University—an important, research-intensive institution—running its library with Alma.”
