Ex Libris will deliver unified resource management and unified discovery through a cloud-based deployment
Adelaide, Australia, and Christchurch, New Zealand—June 9, 2014. Ex Libris® Group and Lincoln University are pleased to announce that the University has opted for the Ex Libris Alma library management service and the Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Deployed in the cloud, Alma and Primo will provide the University’s students and academic staff with access to leading scholarship from global and national sources and will facilitate the discovery of the considerable intellectual capital that the University produces through research and teaching activities. The automated Alma workflows will streamline library operations relating to all materials and collections, enabling library staff to dedicate more time to providing services to faculty and students.
In addition, Ex Libris and Lincoln University will work with national institutions in New Zealand to address some of the issues involved in managing, curating, and providing long-term access to the data that underpins the University’s research activities.
In support of the commitment by Ex Libris to include open-access materials in the Primo Central Index, Lincoln University has established a comprehensive open-access policy according to which authors will use a Creative Commons copyright license. The first university in New Zealand to adopt this policy, Lincoln pledges to make research that is funded by public resources more accessible to the public.
University Librarian Penny Carnaby explained: ”In 2011, Lincoln University developed a strategy for the future, named Connecting the Knowledge Networks: Reimagining learning, teaching and research at Lincoln University to 2020.’ The project we are undertaking with Ex Libris—a major realization of the strategy—will transform the University’s discovery system and connect the learning, teaching, and research infrastructure of the University with global and national knowledge networks. We are very excited about this development and have a great deal of respect for the regional Ex Libris team in Australia and New Zealand.”
