The next-generation solution will help the School simplify library processes and manage its comprehensive collections more effectively
London, UK—September 28, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has opted to implement the Ex Libris Alma® library management platform and combine it with the library’s Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. The School joins a growing global community of Ex Libris customers that are now able to optimize library processes and integrate them with other institutional systems to expand library support for teaching, learning, and research.
David Archer, head of the School’s Library & Archives Service, explained: ”The way in which we acquire, manage, and deliver resources and services to our users has evolved significantly over time, and while our previous system—Symphony—served us well for many years, the time is right for change.”
The library team will be taking advantage of the move to Alma to streamline workflows and eliminate the large number of spreadsheets that are currently used to manage e-resources. Alma will also enable the library to generate reports quickly and easily and facilitate the management of the School’s comprehensive collections in public and global health.
”The ability to increase interoperability with other systems in use at the School, across a range of functions, and to reduce pressure on local resources via a cloud-based solution will be hugely beneficial,” added Archer. ”At the end of the day, we wish to provide our users with the best possible access to the information they need. Alma will help us achieve this goal.”
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, remarked: ”Alma, along with Primo, will help the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine provide easy access to information and resources for teaching and learning. We are happy to welcome the School to the global Alma community.”
