Alma, Primo and Rosetta will provide the university with a powerful framework for library management, user discovery, and preservation of digital collections
Chicago, IL—January 28, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada has adopted a suite of Ex Libris solutions comprised of the Alma® library management solution, the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and the Rosetta digital asset management and preservation system. These solutions replace multiple disparate legacy systems used by the Library
Memorial University Libraries sought a robust system that would offer unified management of resources together with enhanced analytics and reporting functions, built on a cloud-based architecture. After a thorough evaluation, Memorial found that the Ex Libris suite of solutions offers a comprehensive approach that will allow the Libraries to improve services and enhance the user experience while showcasing its world-class collections. Through its streamlined workflows across collections, alongside tight integration with campus systems and services, Alma supports the University’s strategic vision for the Library to promote academic access.
In addition, Rosetta will enable Memorial University to manage and preserve its important collections of Newfoundland’s history, including a huge collection of digitized newspapers. Using the Primo search interface for physical collections, digital and digitized assets, and electronic resources, Memorial will provide a seamless discovery experience to users, whatever their learning and teaching needs.
”It is with great excitement that Memorial University Libraries embark on a new partnership with Ex Libris to provide an innovative and state-of-the-art library software system that improves discovery, management, and distribution of our diverse and valuable collections—print, electronic, and digital,” commented Slavko Manojlovich, Associate University Librarian of Information Technology. ”We want to maximize the convenience and ease for our user community by increasing access and discoverability of our extensive, valuable, and unique collections.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: ”By adopting Alma, Primo and Rosetta as an integrated platform, the Library is demonstrating its holistic approach to technology and its foresight into the changing needs of library staff and users. Alma and Primo will unify operations and present a cutting-edge discovery experience for users, while Rosetta will enable the University to preserve Newfoundland’s digital heritage in perpetuity. We are looking forward to beginning this exciting chapter of collaboration with Memorial University.”
