KUAS will use Alma library services and Primo discovery to support collaboration and strengthen integration of university libraries
Taiwan—September 6, 2017. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences (KUAS) has become the first university in Taiwan to choose the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform. Alma and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution will be replacing a number of the library’s current systems, including an integrated library system, electronic resource management system, and discovery system.
KUAS chose Alma and Primo primarily to optimize the integration of workflows between libraries located on two separate campuses. Another factor in the decision was the Alma platform’s support for collaboration with partner libraries, a major element of the university’s strategic vision. The Alma and Primo cloud-based technology and security meet the high standards that KUAS requires of its vendors.
KUAS Library Director Chun-Hsien Kuo commented, ”We have begun our plan to update our library to provide state-of-the-art services to our patrons. The changes involve not only a renovation of our physical infrastructure but also the modernization of our systems and organizational restructuring. We are pleased that we have found a solution that aligns with our strategic plan.”
Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, noted, ”We are delighted that National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences has chosen Alma as a cornerstone of the library transformation now under way. We welcome KUAS to the Alma family as the first Alma adopter in Taiwan and look forward to working with the university as it creates a new library experience for staff, students, and instructors.”
