The robust functionality of Primo makes it a clear choice for meeting the Library’s needs today and into the future
Chicago, IL— October 15, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation and preservation solutions, is pleased to announce that the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) has decided to adopt the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. An NLM working group evaluated a number of options and ultimately selected Primo, primarily because of its advanced technology, extensive road map, and active customer communities. The Primo solution will replace Ex Libris WebVoyage Classic, known as LocatorPlus, which enables NLM users to search the Library’s collections.
The Primo solution meets the NLM requirements for seamless interoperability with its integrated library system (ILS), real-time availability of holdings and item records, the delivery of physical materials requested by onsite users, and the display of NLM authority records. In addition, as specified in the Primo road map, the Primo solution will be made compliant with the security standards outlined by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and as such will fulfill the NLM’s security requirements.
”We are excited to strengthen our relationship with NLM and assist in its efforts to deliver the right materials at the right time,” remarked Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. ”NLM’s adoption of Primo further showcases the adaptability and flexibility of the solution, demonstrating that it fulfills the needs not only of academic libraries but also of a unique library positioned in the federal government landscape. We look forward to collaborating with this vital national library.”
