This suite of products will replace the library’s legacy system and provide user-centric discovery and delivery capabilities
_x000D_Ex Libris™ Group is pleased to announce that New York University (NYU), a current SFX® customer, has chosen to equip its library with the ALEPH® integrated library system, the MetaLib® gateway and metasearch system, and Primo®, the next-generation, user-centric discovery and delivery solution, all from Ex Libris. These solutions will provide the entire NYU user community with a single point of access to all local and remote library resources.
_x000D_ALEPH was selected by NYU for its flexible architecture and for the ease it provides in supporting large bibliographic collections such as those held by the NYU libraries. ALEPH will replace the institution’s existing Advance (Infor Global Solutions, Inc.) integrated library system and will be used for the collections and operations of the Division of Libraries, including the Elmer Holmes Bobst Library, the Jack Brause Real Estate Library, the Stephen Chan Library of Fine Arts, the Conservation Center Library, and for the libraries of the neighboring New School and Cooper Union.
_x000D_Primo will provide members of the NYU community with a single Web 2.0-inspired interface for the discovery and delivery of information from digital, electronic, and print information sources in all NYU libraries. The integration of Primo with MetaLib enables Primo to metasearch across external resources. This allows NYU patrons to access the institution’s e-collections through the Primo interface.
_x000D_“The addition of Primo to our library infrastructure is a key component for the future of our library,” said Carol Mandel, dean of libraries at New York University. “Knowing it was developed with the users in mind was an important part of our decision.”
_x000D_“NYU and Ex Libris have worked very closely to create a quick and efficient implementation process,” explains Susan Stearns, vice president of Professional Services for Ex Libris North America. ” The winning combination of our extensive implementation experience and the joint understanding of the institution’s local environment have served to accelerate ALEPH implementation and ensure the smoothest possible migration from a legacy system.”
