The university joins over 50 German institutions across six federal states using Alma, providing a cloud-based system that is available to users wherever and whenever they need it
Hamburg, Germany—August 25, 2020. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Nuremberg University of Music has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to help the University’s library carry out its digital transformation strategy. With these systems in place, the University will be able to facilitate online research activities and manage library collections more efficiently.
A major consideration in the University’s search for a discovery solution was that it be interoperable with the library system. In addition, the University sought a product that can be implemented rapidly and whose effectiveness has already been proven. The Primo discovery tool fulfills these requirements and will enable users to easily access the library’s physical and digital media.
The combination of Alma and Primo will reduce time-consuming tasks for librarians and offer our students and researchers a single point of access to physical and digital resources.
With the cloud-based infrastructure of the Alma library services platform, the library will reduce efforts in managing its collections, thus lowering operating costs significantly, and will be able to scale up more easily when necessary.
“The combination of Alma and Primo will reduce time-consuming tasks for librarians and offer our students and researchers a single point of access to physical and digital resources. We are taking a leap forward in enhancing the user experience,” said Falk Hartwig, head librarian of the Nuremberg University of Music.
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, commented, “Ex Libris is delighted to welcome the Nuremberg University of Music to the Alma and Primo communities. Nuremberg is joining a large and growing Alma community in Germany of over 50 research and teaching institutions of different sizes, across six federal states. With the Alma management platform and Primo solution, the university’s users will benefit from streamlined library operations, simplified discovery processes, and higher levels of service.”
