Paris, France
Ex Libris (France) is pleased to announce that the Paris 1 – Pantheon Sorbonne University has chosen the ALEPH 500™ Integrated Library System, the MetaLib® portal, and the SFX® link resolver to build the institutions new library network information system. The ALEPH 500 system will replace the institutions current Geac-Advance, C2, Winisis, Isis/dos systems.
M. Patrice Ract, Librarian Project Manager, explains: Ex Libris submitted a solution including proven software packages answering all our requirements for the building of our libraries network. The Ex Libris solution is heterogeneous, allowing for treatment of specific collections, as well as adept at managing numerous distributed sites. We observed that both ALEPH 500 and MetaLib have many established sites in France as well as in foreign countries, with environments similar to Paris 1 University. The creation of an optimal link between the ILS and the portal was one of the major goals of our project. In our opinion, the global architecture of ALEPH 500 together with MetaLib, is a clear and reliable answer suited to the scope of our institutions project.
Frederic Lefevre, Managing Director of Ex Libris France, states: 2005 will be a great year for Ex Libris France. We are very proud that so important an institution as the Paris 1 University has selected our solutions to build their new information system and support the wide range of academic needs of the institutions complex documentary landscape–including the Central Library as well as academic and research center libraries. The collaboration between these libraries will increase, thanks to the new common collections management tool, and the library patrons will be the first to benefit.
I believe that, among the many assets that we bring to this project, the customer feels assured of benefiting from a coherent and efficient information system today and in the future. The excellent feedback from customers running our systems was also key in this success.
