Consolidating multiple systems, the cloud-based deployment will streamline library services and enhance discovery for users
Chicago, IL—October 23, 2014. Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that Rollins College, a selective private liberal arts institution in Florida, has opted for the Ex Libris Alma unified resource management solution and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Until now, Rollins has been running the equivalent of two library systems simultaneously, SirsiDynix Symphony® and ProQuest® Serials Solutions, as well as the ProQuest Summon discovery solution. The migration to Alma and Primo will enable Rollins to consolidate library management and discovery into one platform.
In its pursuit of a system for handling electronic, print, and digital collections, Rollins sought a cloud-based solution that would increase efficiencies for staff as well as enhance the library experience for users. Serving a liberal arts college with a number of graduate professional programs, the library places major emphasis on the user experience. Primo will enable the library’s users to readily discover and seamlessly access resources from the entire library collection without having to know where that information originates or how it is made available to end users.
”We are excited to be migrating to Alma and Primo and foresee real efficiencies in staff workflows,” remarked Jonathan Miller, library director at Rollins College. ”We hope these efficiencies will give our staff more time to focus on high-value priorities for our users. We think that the combination of Alma and Primo will provide an excellent user experience as faculty members and students incorporate library services and information resources into their teaching and learning.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, commented: ”We are happy to welcome Rollins College to the Ex Libris community The school’s decision to adopt a unified platform demonstrates that in addition to successfully handling large, complex collections, Alma is well designed to meet the unique needs of smaller libraries. The college community will also reap many benefits from the Primo discovery solution, which gives library staff complete freedom over the content that users can discover and provides a sophisticated search technology that optimally addresses the research requirements of both students and faculty.”
