The first state library to implement Alma, SLQ is continuing to demonstrate its leadership in the adoption of library technology
Adelaide, Australia—March 10, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in library automation services, is pleased to announce that State Library of Queensland (SLQ) is live with Ex Libris Alma®. An institution with a history of leadership in library technology, SLQ was the first Australian library to implement the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution.
As a legal deposit library, SLQ’s requirements differ from those of most academic libraries. The Library has a diverse mandate that includes collecting Queensland’s documentary published and unpublished material and to connect Queenslanders to resources that meet their information needs. Alma’s automated workflows and unique approach to managing legal deposit works have enabled the Library to improve efficiency and strengthen cooperation among staff members. As a result, they will be able to provide easier access to SLQ’s extensive local and online resources.
”State Library is committed to improving the user experience for all Queenslanders, and Alma’s more effective and efficient processes support this goal,” commented Janette Wright, CEO and state librarian at the State Library of Queensland. ”Alma workflows reflect the changing nature of our library collections—in particular the move from print to electronic and digital content. We look forward to working with Ex Libris and the user community to continue to develop Alma”
Matti Shem Tov, CEO and president of Ex Libris, remarked. ”I am delighted to see State Library of Queensland going live with Alma after a combined implementation effort by Ex Libris and the Library. SLQ’s pioneering attitude to harnessing technology for the benefit of its user community is well known, and has been demonstrated by the numerous innovations they created within Alma. We are now looking forward to the next stage of our collaboration—installing Rosetta as the State Library’s digital asset management and preservation solution.”
