The libraries of East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Community College in the Tennessee Board of Regents system join 200 institutions worldwide that are now enjoying the world-class next-generation Alma library management service from Ex Libris
Chicago, Illinois—June 11, 2015. Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Tennessee Board of Regents Libraries – NorthEast (TBRL-NE), consisting of the libraries of East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and Northeast State Community College (NeSCC), is the 200th customer worldwide to implement the Ex Libris Alma® library management service.
The libraries selected Alma, along with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, to provide an integrated platform for library resource discovery and library management services delivered via the cloud. With the cloud-based deployment, library staff are freed to focus on services, and new functionality is regularly made available without the need for on-site upgrades. The libraries sought a solution that would also integrate with third-party systems for authentication, resource sharing, procurement, and self-service borrowing. Having used the Ex Libris SFX® OpenURL link resolver hosted by Ex Libris for several years, ETSU was confident that Ex Libris would continue to provide support and cloud services at a consistently high standard. The libraries replaced a number of legacy systems including Innovative Interfaces Inc. Sierra and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS).
”We are pleased to go live with Alma today and join the Alma customer community,” remarked Celia Szarejko, director of technology and content services at East Tennessee State University. ”A single platform for resource discovery, electronic resource management, and analytics are going to make a big difference for our campuses. We are really looking forward to using our next-generation systems to improve the library user experience of our students and faculty and improve our own operational efficiency.”
”Ex Libris North America is proud to be implementing the 200th Alma deployment worldwide,” remarked Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. ”We are excited that East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Community College are joining the ranks of many users of the unified Alma management service. Today, these libraries can begin realizing their goal of managing electronic, digital, and print resources as one holistic collection.”
Matti Shem Tov, president and CEO of Ex Libris Group, commented: ”Reaching this milestone is a huge accomplishment for Ex Libris, the result of excellent teamwork and several years of intensive efforts by many Ex Libris employees and partner institutions. We feel honored to be selected by so many prestigious, world-class institutions, and we look forward to many more years of collaborative work with each and every one of them.”
