Library staff members and users now benefit from streamlined workflows, enhanced analytics and a single, powerful search interface
Hamburg, Germany—January 28, 2014. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Bibliothek am Guisanplatz (BiG) in Switzerland has gone live with the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and the next-generation Alma resource management service. Bibliothek am Guisanplatz—the leading library of the Alexandria Library Network—is using Ex Libris solutions to transform the management of its vast collections and to expose and deliver those collections to federal employees, military personnel, scholars, and the public.
Daniel Kohler, Head of Coordination at the Alexandria Network, commented: ”The long-term strategy of BiG and of the Alexandria network is focused on the needs of our customers—the Federal Administration, the Swiss Army, and the interested public. To meet their requirements, we sought a modern, efficient library system that would also offer an appealing online presence. With Alma and Primo we have laid the foundations for improved services that will enable us to attract and retain satisfied end users.”
”We are very pleased with the project management provided by the Ex Libris team in Hamburg, the way this complex project was implemented, and the cooperation with our team members,” added Kohler. ”We are looking forward to improving the library’s efficiency through unified workflows and harnessing the insights stemming from Alma Analytics reports.”
Bettina Forster, VP professional services Europe at Ex Libris, remarked: ”We congratulate the Bibliothek am Guisanplatz on becoming the first Alma customer in Switzerland to go live. The BiG project will serve as an important reference in the Swiss market and far beyond. More than 300 institutions worldwide have already chosen Alma, and this successful project brings another forward-looking library into the expanding European Alma community.”
