The polytechnic and applied sciences institute moves to break down silos and streamline the management of digital collections
Chicago, Illinois—August 10, 2017.Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform to replace the institute’s Voyager® integrated library system. NAIT is already using the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution, which will be tightly integrated with Alma to optimize the student and staff experience.
Among the functionality requirements that NAIT defined for its new library system was digital asset management that is part of the library services platform rather than a separate product. The Alma-Primo combination not only meets this requirement but also helps break down silos by enabling libraries to manage electronic, digital, and print assets within a single system and to provide access to all resources within a single interface.
”We believe that Alma represents the best of the new cloud-based library services platforms,” said Wayne Hofman, Library Services Manager at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Library. ”The decision to adopt Alma is based both on its feature set and on our trust in the Ex Libris team, trust developed during the 17 years we have used the Voyager platform. We believe Ex Libris is the most progressive company in responding to the needs of the academic library market, providing a next-generation LSP system that will continue to grow and adapt as it moves into the future.”
”We are thrilled to continue working with the library at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. It’s wonderful that NAIT and Ex Libris are both moving in the same direction, responding to changes in libraries and technology to meet the needs of library staff and patrons,” said Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America.
