An integrated platform for library and archive management, digital preservation, and user discovery for the State Library’s future
Adelaide, Australia—December 4, 2014. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the State Library of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has adopted a suite of Ex Libris solutions—comprised of the Alma® library management solution, the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and the Rosetta digital asset management and preservation system—and Axiell Group’s Adlib Archive to manage its archival collections. These solutions replace multiple legacy systems used by the Library. Together, these integrated systems will enable the State Library to offer a world-class discovery experience to its large user community.
As part of the State Library’s Digital Excellence Program, supported by the NSW Government, the Library is fast tracking the digitisation of its most iconic, at risk, and highly valued collections, undertaking a complete renewal of its underlying infrastructure and systems, and improving the online discoverability of its vast collections. This critical work will make it even easier for schools, universities, family historians, researchers and many others to find and use the Library’s unique materials.
Alex Byrne, NSW State Librarian & Chief Executive, commented: ”The State Library of NSW is very pleased by the potential of this state-of-the-art library system to manage our vast and diverse collections and improve access and discoverability for readers and researchers worldwide. Our hope is that this project will lead the way for other cultural institutions struggling to find technological solutions that allow their extensive collections to be accessed online.”
”We are pleased to be a partner in the State Library’s digitisation project, and to continue our collaboration with Ex Libris,” declared Axiell Group CEO Joel Sommerfeldt. ”The inclusion of Adlib Archive in the overall solution ensures that the Library can manage its collections effectively while expanding their reach.”
”We are proud and delighted to embark on this major project with the State Library in partnership with Axiell Group,” remarked Matti Shem Tov, president and CEO of Ex Libris. ”By adopting Alma, Primo and Rosetta as an integrated platform, the Library is demonstrating its pioneering approach to technology and its exceptional foresight into the changing needs of library staff and users. Rosetta’s comprehensive management and preservation capabilities for digital and digitized collections will ensure that the vast collections held in trust for the people of NSW will be preserved and available in the future. Alma and Primo will unify operations across collections and present a cutting edge discovery experience for users, enabling them to enjoy the full wealth of the State’s cultural heritage resources.”
