The university sought a solution that would ensure the students’ smooth transition to the new normal and offer them an exceptional experience during these times of change
Barcelona, Spain—September 22, 2020. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Barcelona (UB) has selected the Ex Libris campusM™ mobile app and web portal for the university community to use. With campusM in operation, the University aims to embrace mobile communication and connect with users via their mobile devices. The objective is to bring together –in a single application– various important functions including the ability to send notifications to different user groups, generate group loyalty through the use of the app and create another form of communication between the University and the students. The app integrates key institutional systems.
campusM will allow us to stay connected and maintain an engaging and unique experience.
An important aspect is that the app will enable the school to communicate with students through relevant, personalized messages. The university and its faculties can stay connected with students through a messaging service that reaches out to them on their mobile device, wherever they are, allowing the instant wellness checks that are so important in the current academic environment. The UB will be empowered by a platform that enables the university administration to mix and match features based on the university’s needs. Thanks to the platform’s self-service mode, staff members can manage features on their own with no additional technical assistance.
The campusM hub enables students to access schedules, view grades, keep up to date with the latest university news, and enjoy an environment with richer conversations and deeper connections from what one achieves through social media and other means.
“With campusM, we look forward to offering students the very latest in mobile technology,” said Francisco Esteban, vice-rector for Communication at the University of Barcelona. “Keeping in touch with our students and making sure they still feel part of the university, even from afar, is a major concern. campusM will allow us to stay connected and maintain an engaging and unique experience. The decision to embrace this new technology couldn’t have arrived at a better time.”
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, commented, “Ex Libris is delighted to welcome the University of Barcelona to the campusM user community. Students and teachers alike will benefit from interacting with a large variety of university services right in the palm of their hands. In today’s academic environment, with the constant changes brought on by COVID-19, it is especially important that members of the university community have easy access to the information that campusM provides.”
