Leganto will play a major role in the library’s strategic Course Collections program
London, UK—May 16, 2017. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Edinburgh has selected the Ex Libris LegantoSM course resource list solution to facilitate the creation, delivery, and use of resource lists.
The University has been providing online resource lists via its Resource Lists service, and the use of these lists is on the rise throughout the University. The complex workflows previously required to manage these lists led to duplication of effort, bottlenecks in the preparation of reading lists and resources, and delay in the delivery of these resources before the new semester begins.
Library Learning Services Manager Angela Laurins said, ”The Resource Lists service is part of the Course Collections program, one of the library’s key strategic themes for 2016-19. This program aims to support the University’s teaching and learning experience by cost-effectively increasing the availability of resources and by simplifying the process for recommending resources.
”After a rigorous procurement project, we selected Leganto to replace our Talis Aspire reading list system. We are confident that Leganto will enable the library to support a growing service in an efficient and timely way and provide us with new opportunities to encourage students and academic teaching staff to use the Resource List service.”
One of the main factors in the University’s selection of Leganto was its integration with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, which simplifies library workflows and increases efficiency in the provision and delivery of course reading materials. The teaching staff and students will benefit from easier ways to request and access course reading materials. Comprehensive analytics in the form of predefined reports and dashboards will provide information on the usage of reading lists and list items, thus informing library policy and contributing to business decisions.
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, said, ”I am delighted that the University of Edinburgh has chosen Leganto, with its proven ability to help librarians work more closely with academic colleagues in the teaching process and create a resource list service that empowers students to succeed.”
