Looking to consolidate three separate library systems, UM has selected Alma and Primo to unify resource management and discovery services
Chicago, IL—October 13, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Miami (UM) has selected Ex Libris Alma® for resource management and Ex Libris Primo® for resource discovery and delivery. The University libraries are migrating from three independent Innovative Interfaces Millennium integrated library systems and ProQuest’s Summon® discovery service.
UM sought a unified solution that would replace the disparate library systems and would enable the libraries to streamline their workflows, reduce costs, and provide better patron services. The Ex Libris implementation team will effectively deduplicate the data residing in the multiple systems, delivering a single catalog with shared records.
Executive Vice President and Provost Thomas J. LeBlanc commented, ”We are eager to unify and streamline our library systems efficiently and effectively. The Ex Libris Alma and Primo implementation has already begun on our campuses, and we are looking forward to going live with the new platform in the first half of 2016.”
”The powerful combination of Ex Libris Alma and Primo forms the leading solution enabling libraries to move ahead with a unified platform that benefits both staff and patrons,” commented Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. ”We are excited about collaborating with the University of Miami as it develops its library, and we warmly welcome this new Ex Libris customer to the Alma and Primo communities.”
