Topping the university’s trial of well known discovery systems, Primo will provide a seamless discovery experience for library users
Jerusalem, Israel—February 10, 2011. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation technology, is pleased to announce that the University of Twente in the Netherlands has selected the Primo Direct package from Ex Libris. Deployed as a cloud-based solution, Primo Direct and the Primo Central Index of scholarly e-content will provide users with a unified search interface for the library’s vast collections and electronic resources.
Primo will enable users at the University of Twente to search the library’s LBS library catalog together with its e-prints repository and electronic resources in the Primo Central Index. ”Our intensive evaluation, including a two month trial of major discovery systems, showed that Ex Libris Primo best fulfilled our requirements, specifically in the fields of adaptability and administration,” Peter Daalmans, Director of the Library and Archive, commented. ”Primo combines the benefits of a SaaS solution, reducing the burden for our library staff to manage the system, while still providing us with full control over our data and the ability to influence the ranking of local and global collections.”
”I could not be more pleased with the University of Twente’s decision to select Primo Direct with the Primo Central Index,” commented Ullrich Jüngling, Vice President of Sales for Central, East, and South East Europe at Ex Libris. ”We are confident that Primo’s ability to integrate seamlessly with different ILS systems—for example at the University of Twente with LBS—will encourage many diverse libraries to adopt Primo in the future.”
