Alma will serve as a multi-institutional platform, streamlining library management, and Primo will simplify the discovery process
Chicago, IL—August 3, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Thomas Jefferson University has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® and Primo® solutions for the libraries serving the university’s colleges and health centers. Alma will be instrumental in managing Thomas Jefferson’s collection of electronic, print, and non-traditional physical materials, while Primo will make these collections accessible from a single search interface.
Thomas Jefferson sought a centralized, cloud-based solution that would enable the university to manage all resources in one system, thus eliminating silos of library systems that did not communicate well with each other. Thomas Jefferson also needed a scalable management system that would enable the growth of the university’s collections and scholarly output in the future.
Laura McNamara, electronic resources librarian at the university’s Center for Teaching and Learning and the Scott Memorial Library, explained: ”We are very pleased with the level of customization available in both Alma and Primo—we can tailor our implementation to our unique needs and workflows. We are particularly looking forward to using the robust reporting and analytics features, which should help us further optimize our collections. We also expect to save time by automating library workflows, thus freeing up our staff for other projects.”
