The campusM platform will support the student experience through a web portal and a responsive mobile app
Adelaide, Australia—August 6, 2019. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that New Zealand’s Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology has chosen the Ex Libris campusM™ cloud-based mobile platform to provide a mobile-accessible portal that will increase student engagement in campus life. The campusM platform will replace a home-grown solution.
The institute’s original mobile infrastructure—a browser-based page of links—lacked real-time information and data, creating a sub-optimal user experience, with students having to click several times to access the information that they need. In addition, the page could not deliver notifications and was not mobile responsive.
In an age where learners have many options, we have to work hard to stay innovative and develop tools that provide our students with the resources they need to thrive.
In late 2018, Toi Ohomai determined that a key IT strategic goal was to focus on developing the staff and student experience, which resulted in the establishment of a modern mobile infrastructure that would enable students to engage, collaborate, and receive updated information anywhere, at any time.
After evaluating their existing Toi Ohomai Hub platform, the team concluded that the campusM platform would assist the institution in supporting student life via both a native app and a web portal. The campusM platform is designed to provide information of many types, such as grades, computer availability, live bus schedules, cafeteria updates, and campus events. In addition, the institute can extend the campusM capabilities through an app extension kit (AEK). By providing such services, Toi Ohomai will enhance the student experience, gain crucial analytical insight into how students are accessing content, ensure that students receive the latest information, and, more importantly, identify which students might need learner support.
Toi Ohomai Head of Information Technology Rabindra Das explained that the new platform solidifies the commitment that Toi Ohomai has made to ensuring the best possible experience for students.
“In an age where learners have many options, we have to work hard to stay innovative and develop tools that provide our students with the resources they need to thrive. A large part of this work is to encourage students to engage with campus life—and this new platform will allow students to connect and share in one easy-to-use place. Also, through the use of data, we will be able to identify students who aren’t accessing the array of services and activities that we have to offer, enabling us to provide additional support and communication where necessary. This is another exciting step for Toi Ohomai as one of the country’s largest tertiary providers.”
Ex Libris Corporate VP of Mobile Campus Solutions Ido Peled noted, “We are thrilled to welcome Toi Ohomai to the campusM community, and we look forward to supporting the institute in deploying campusM to enrich student life and improve student success.”
