Valencia, Spain
GreenData, the official Ex Libris distributor in Spain, and Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (UPV) have signed an agreement to install MetaLib® and SFX® at the UPV library.
The electronic collection of the university consists of more than 33,000 electronic resources, including e-books, e-journals and databases. UPV has selected MetaLib and SFX to improve the search and retrieval capabilities of the universitys e-resources and to make them easily accessible to users. Looking forward to this initiative, the librarians are confident that it will add tremendous value to the services that the library offers.
Juan Miguel Martinez-Rubio, head of the library, noted, This new challenge for the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia library will enable us to take an important stride forward in managing our electronic collections. We are convinced that our university community will take advantage of the functionalities of MetaLib. Professors and students will access the digital resources more efficiently, while the university will profit from improved resource management. MetaLib and SFX will enhance the capabilities and benefits of the library system.
The general manager of GreenData, Hugo Agud, commented, We are extremely pleased that Universidad Politecnica de Valencia has purchased MetaLib and SFX to manage its electronic collections. This is a historic moment in Spanish librarianship, with these products representing a revolution in the management of hybrid collections. GreenData salutes the UPV decision to be the first university in Spain to acquire MetaLib and SFX. Agud added, We see Universidad Politecnica de Valencia as a pioneer in changing the concept and manner of handling electronic resources in university libraries.
