Rich functionality, a unified point of access to the full spectrum of materials, and ease of use drew the library to expand its suite of Ex Libris Solutions
Chicago, IL—October 26, 2010. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Universit? de Montr?al has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, the Aleph® integrated library system—replacing the university’s GEAC ADVANCE system—and the Verde® electronic resource management system to serve as the backbone of the university’s library services. Following an intensive selection process, the library opted to augment its suite of Ex Libris solutions, having previously implemented the MetaLib® metasearch solution, the SFX® OpenURL link resolver, and the bX article recommender service.
The Universit? de Montr?al is one of nearly 100 members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) who are running Ex Libris solutions. With the newly selected systems, the university joins 16 other ARL members who deploy Primo as their discovery interface and 28 ARL members who are running Aleph.
”It’s a jump toward excellence!” remarked Richard Dumont, director of the Universit? de Montr?al libraries. ”Now we’ll be able to offer a cutting-edge discovery environment to our users. In this way, we are adding our voice to the most influential universities playing a proactive role in the evolution and development of solutions for finding and using the full spectrum of information resources.”
”We are honored and delighted by the Universit? de Montr?al’s selection of Primo, Aleph, and Verde,” commented Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America. ”We know that the university reached this decision after a long and exhaustive process. We were confident that our strategic vision, the extensibility and rich functionality of our products, and particularly the ingrained Ex Libris commitment to true multilingual capabilities—together with our strong relationship with other libraries in Qu?bec—helped us reach this positive conclusion. I am delighted to welcome the Université de Montréal to the growing community of customers running a full suite of Ex Libris solutions.”
