Statewide collaboration opportunities and the powerful Alma analytics capabilities were among the deciding factors for UCO
Chicago, IL—June 24, 2014. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Chambers Library of the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) has selected the Ex Libris Alma resource management solution. At the same time, UCO will migrate its Primo discovery solution to the Ex Libris cloud environment. Alma, which is seamlessly integrated with Primo, provides a unified platform for managing library operations across all collections and formats.
UCO sought a next-generation solution to replace the library’s Ex Libris Voyager integrated library system, Ex Libris SFX link resolver, and other services. Alma emerged as the most appealing solution, with its automated workflows, advanced analytics functionality, and potential for new types of collaboration—an important consideration for a school that maintains strong links with other universities in Oklahoma. Alma analytics will provide UCO with meaningful insights into usage and collection trends, thus facilitating an evidence-based decision-making process. As a cloud solution, Alma will reduce the technical burden of library staff while enabling staff to deliver a range of traditional and new services to students and faculty.
”Alma is an exciting solution that will improve both library operations and user services as we transition from Voyager and other systems and take advantage of the unified, streamlined workflows across functional areas,” commented Executive Director of the Library Dr. Bonnie McNeely. ”Moving to the cloud with Alma and Primo will also enable us to benefit immediately from the faster pace of innovation and the developments provided in each new release.”
”I am excited to welcome the University of Central Oklahoma to the expanding Alma community,” remarked Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America. ”UCO joins over 340 sites in North America and around the world that have opted for Alma’s scalable and interoperable open technology. The increasingly popular decision to adopt Alma and migrate Primo to the cloud confirms that a unified cloud-based platform is the most effective way for academic and research libraries to advance their institutions’ academic goals.”
