The ARL member chose Primo and SFX to optimize the discovery experience for students and faculty
Chicago, IL—December 9, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Houston (UH) has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and the SFX® OpenURL link resolver. After defining the library’s long-term requirements and evaluating a number of commercial options, the university library—a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL)—chose to integrate Primo with its existing systems.
”We are pleased to be adding Primo and SFX to our library technology environment,” commented Richard Guajardo, head of resource discovery systems. ”Primo will offer us a high degree of control over the layout and design of the user interface and will enable us to customize facets, personalize relevance ranking, and improve the delivery of library resources and users’ access to them. With Primo usage analytics, we will be better able to make evidence-based decisions and respond to the diverse needs of our user community. Users will be able to discover our extensive collections via a single, content-neutral search interface and obtain relevance-ranked results based on Primo’s advanced ScholarRank technology.”
Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: ”I am honored to welcome the University of Houston to the global Primo community of almost 2,000 institutions. We are looking forward to partnering with the library to offer personalized services, highly relevant search results tailored to the user’s academic interests, and our unique bX article recommender. The University of Houston joins a dynamic client community in Texas and throughout North America and is yet another example of an academic library that has opted to provide a unified discovery experience to its users.”
