Alma Analytics and the powerful integration between Alma and Primo were key factors in this ARL member’s decision
Chicago, IL—January 29, 2015. Ex Libris Group®, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Iowa has selected Ex Libris Alma® for next-generation resource management services. Alma will replace a number of systems, including the Aleph® integrated library system.
Having used Aleph for 15 years, Iowa Libraries were keen to move to a cloud-based SaaS system that offers unified workflows for print, electronic, and digital collections, as well as enabling dynamic collaborations with the school’s partners in Iowa and more widely. The libraries sought a robust system that would offer unified management of resources together with enhanced analytics and reporting functions, integrated with their existing unified discovery interface for their extensive collections.
”After evaluating other commercial systems, we kept coming up with Alma as the most mature, unified resource management system available today,” commented John Culshaw, University Librarian. ”We have a long history of collaboration with Ex Libris, as an early implementer of Aleph and SFX and a charter customer for Primo. So when we were invited to participate in an Alma adoption program, we decided to make the move. The cloud-based combination of Alma and Primo offers us great flexibility, without the overhead of managing on-premise servers.
