Rosetta will power a university-wide program to preserve and provide access to research data and digital assets
Jerusalem, Israel—June 24, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation and preservation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) has adopted the Rosetta digital preservation solution. The university will implement Rosetta across the entire campus to preserve the school’s renowned digital humanities collections, campus websites, research data, and other digital assets. Rosetta will be under the management of the UNL library system, a member of the Association of Research Libraries.
Rosetta is at the heart of an initiative to ensure that UNL’s extensive collections and research data will be preserved in perpetuity. Dean of Libraries Nancy Busch commented: ”After evaluating all the commercial digital preservation systems, we found that only Rosetta has the unique capabilities we require. UNL was looking for a system that would resonate with our partners throughout the institution, not only in the library itself, and would support our strategic mission to provide access to knowledge through the preservation of information resources for the UNL community and the state of Nebraska.”
”I am proud to welcome the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to the international Rosetta community, which comprises academic, research, and national libraries; museums; and archives,” remarked Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America. ”UNL’s decision affirms the leading role of Ex Libris in delivering long-term preservation solutions for scholarly and cultural organizations.”
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is the first member of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (a collaborative association of 11 U.S. universities) to adopt Rosetta to manage and preserve the school’s extensive digital collections.
