The collaborative and pioneering development strategy of Ex Libris drew the University to Alma and Primo
Adelaide, Australia—January 21, 2016. Ex Libris, a ProQuest® company, is pleased to announce that The University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane, Australia has selected the Ex Libris® Alma® resource management solution and the Primo® discovery solution, replacing the University’s previous Innovative Interfaces library system.
UQ Library evaluated a number of different products before selecting Alma and Primo. A combination of the solutions’ powerful functionality and their well-defined roadmap plans made them the leading choice.
”The University of Queensland Library welcomes our partnership with Ex Libris to implement a unified, cloud-based library services platform,” Bob Gerrity, University Librarian at UQ, commented. ”In addition to the obvious benefits we expect from Alma/Primo—including more streamlined and efficient back-office operations, improved analytics capabilities, and better search and discovery tools—we appreciate the collaborative approach Ex Libris has taken in developing innovative products and services for academic and research libraries. We look forward to working with them and with other customers to continue developing solutions that deliver clear value to our users.”
Ziv Benzvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, remarked: ”We are delighted that UQ Library has decided that Alma and Primo are the right solutions to support its research, teaching and learning activities. Alma and Primo will provide an integrated platform to manage the University’s resources and expose them to the thousands of users who access its collections. I look forward to welcoming The University of Queensland to the highly energetic Australia and New Zealand user community.”
About The University of Queensland
For more than a century, The University of Queensland has made significant contributions to Queensland, Australia and the world. UQ consistently sits well inside the world’s top 100 in all main university rankings tables; two of those currently rank UQ in the world’s top 50. The 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia assessment ranked all UQ’s research at world standard or above. The results reaffirmed UQ as one of the nation’s three leading research-focussed universities. In 2014, the University had 50,749 students including 11,155 international students from 140 nations. UQ has about 232,000 alumni – including more than 12,000 PhDs – in at least 170 countries.
