An integrated platformfor resource management and discovery and powerful analytics capabilities were key factors in USC’sdecision
Adelaide, Australia—April 22, 2015. Ex Libris Group®, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Australia has selected the Ex Libris Alma® next-generation resource management solution and the Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Alma and Primo will replace a number of systems, including the Virtua integrated library system and the EBSCO discovery service.
USC carried out a major evaluation of the available library management and discovery systems before selecting Ex Libris cloud-based solutions. Primo and Alma were found to be the only options that could provide the automated end-to-end workflow efficiencies, powerful systems integration, and flexible reporting and analytics solution that USC was looking for. The ability to consolidate three legacy systems into a single cloud-based platform will also enable the Library to reduce its technical and systems management overheads. The large and active Ex Libris user community, both in Australia and New Zealand and worldwide, was a further incentive for USC in their decision.
”The implementation of a unified library services platform will play an important role in the future development of the Library,” commented USC Library Manager Sharon Lenord. ”It will enable us to streamline and automate workflows, improve efficiency and free up staff time so that they can focus on new developments and improved services. The fully integrated system and improved reporting capability will also improve our capacity to gather and use business intelligence data to better inform our planning.”
Holley Dumble, sales director at Ex Libris Australia and New Zealand, remarked: ”USC’s decision to adopt Alma and Primo as a unified service for library management and discovery strengthens our commitment to providing the highest quality cloud solutions to academic and research libraries. We are excited to begin a productive collaboration with this new member of the Ex Libris community.”
