The University is set to benefit from streamlined resource management and discovery
Adelaide, Australia—December 20, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Waikato, in Hamilton, New Zealand, has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Alma replaces the university library’s Voyager® integrated library system.
Waikato sought a truly cloud-based, software-as-a-service platform that provides streamlined workflows for the acquisition and management of both print and electronic resources. An early adopter of the ProQuest Intota library services platform, Waikato chose the combination of Alma and Primo as the next step in library automation.
Key to Waikato’s decision was the desire to put more emphasis on value-added tasks rather than administrative ones. Waikato University Librarian Ross Hallett explained, ”With the combination of Alma and Primo, we will be able to streamline our workflows and eliminate numerous in-house tools, thus saving considerable staff time in simple day-to-day processing chores. We also look forward to having sophisticated reporting and analytics features, which will make collection assessment much simpler and time-efficient.
Waikato was especially impressed with the new Primo interface. Hallett noted, “Primo reflects the uncluttered approach that we were looking for. Presenting all our digital resources in one place will considerably improve discoverability and access. Waikato was an early adopter of discovery layer services. Now we are looking forward to tight integration of the resource selection, purchasing, and management in Alma with the discovery process in Primo.”
Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, commented, ”We are pleased to see another Intota early adopter join the Alma community. The combination of Alma and Primo will enhance efficiency and unify resource management and discovery for the University of Waikato’s extensive faculty and student body.”
