Do you remember the winner of Elympics 2010?

The first prize in the competition was won by the Related Items Bookshelf – Virtual Shelf Browse for Voyager.

In February 2014 we added this feature to Primo version 4.5 as one of the Exploration and Serendipitous Discovery features that you can find – out of the box – in Primo.

The Virtual Bookshelf allows you to display relevant resources ordered in a variety of configurable ways in order to help users to explore your resources in a visual manner.

To see the Virtual Bookshelf in action, have a look at the Imperial College London Library (an Alma and Primo customer) website.

If you are interested in finding out how you can customise Primo, take a look at the Developers Network where you can find definitions and examples of our APIs as well as Open Source developments from out customers which you are free to use for your own Primo installation.
